The Shopping Sherpa: 9 to 5

handmade and vintage shopping for corporate office job

So you’ve heard I have a new job, but you haven’t heard exactly what it is.  Well, let me quell your curiosity.  I am the new Administrative Assistant in the Office of Graduate Admissions and Services at Columbia College Chicago.  That’s a mouthful.  Think Dolly Parton in 9 to 5, but with less boob and less corporate BS to put up with.

I’m all sorts of excited about it, seeing as how I get to be a part of a pretty kick a** school (one that I’m actually considering for grad school myself), I get a salary with benefits, and I get to work with creative students and some super sweet co-workers.  I’ll be answering phone calls and emails, talking to graduate students and processing application materials, but I also look forward to working more collaboratively with the other members of the office, helping to strengthen the graduate programs.  Tight, right?

ROW 1:  Vintage Mint Secretary Blouse from Revival House; Red & Pool Pen from Paper Source; Fluffy Kitten Cup (gotta stay focused with plenty of tea and coffee) from Mie Kongo Studio

ROW 2:  Swingline Stapler (my desk needs a little personality) from Moxie Doll; Vintage Fern Print Blouse from Darling Nikki Vintage; Screen Printed Desk Calendar from Curious Doodles

ROW 3:  Mini Pencil Necklace (so I can be like Joan Holloway!) from Christine Domanic Jewelry; Knock Knock File Folders from Paper Source; Vintage Slate Gray Blouse (can one have too many secretary blouses?  I’m gonna say no…) from Allen Company Inc.

    • Thanks, girl! I think I will have to buy that stapler wall art with my first paycheck. I hope your new job is treating you well!
