As Brian mentioned last week, I’ve been sporting some fancy fall duds, and boy howdy has the weather been nice. I hate to admit it, but for the first time in my life I think I’m truly appreciating fall. Don’t get me wrong—I’m still a summer girl, but the past few weeks have been beautiful… and just perfect for some layered fall fashions!
It’s the perfect window of time (and a tiny window at that, thanks to Chicago) when the world is covered in warm-hued leaves, the sunlight isn’t bearing down upon you, and the air is just crisp enough for a variety of layers but not cold enough for a winter jacket that covers up all the hard work you’ve done that morning piecing together your outfit.

I was also blessed with the grandest vintage shopping expedition of my young life a few weeks ago. Despite all the odds (e.g. a non-injury car accident), Brian and I finally made it out to the ‘burbs, where his mom had promised me a birthday shopping trip to my favorite Sycamore store, Moxie. Cute name, even! I made out like a bandit with practically a complete fall wardrobe in three heavenly shopping bags. Pictured here is one item from said shopping trip—my sailboat sweater (secondhand from Anthropologie). Thanks, Suz!

You also happen to be looking at my very own Miss Pompadour necklace. A hand-crocheted Dalmatian Jasper (I think that’s right) beauty! Lovely, no? So, it’s technically been over two months since my birthday, but the gifts keep coming. Can I get birthday presents year round?
Above is an outfit for the Bloganistas Flickr Pool. If you’re a blogging lady (or fella) with a penchant for looking pretty snazzy (or at least trying to, as in my case), get on your best duds, grab a camera, and join the Bloganista fun!
you look great mamma
