This past weekend I learned at least two things about Louisville, Kentucky:
- It’s not very far from Chicago
- It runs on eastern time

Sarah and I made it out to the bluegrass state Friday evening with enough time to catch locals My Morning Jacket in their arena (KFC Yum! Center, to be exact) show.
Now my appreciation for My Morning Jacket is a bit spotty, but it was a good show. I used to listen to their At Dawn album quite a bit, and I was glad that at least one of those reverby acoustic numbers made its way in front of the massive crowd, even if it was sung by Jim James as Colonel Sanders.
Yes. That’s right. For the encore, each band member was dressed as Colonel Sanders, and there was even a guy in a chicken costume with a big red heart. Clearly, this was the best part of the Halloween eve show. Even better than the scary monster puppets that followed. After the show we fought our way through cascading balloons with fried chicken on our minds. Clearly, the KFC Yum! Center had worked its magic.
