Ok, last post about Louisville. Scout’s honor. I just couldn’t wrap-up our trip coverage without mentioning all the sweet vintage swag I picked up! If you’re ever in Louisville—and you should be, one day—go to The Nitty Gritty…

Why? Because I said so. And because their rooms upon creaky rooms of top-quality vintage clothing, accessories, and costumes is enough to make any level-headed vintage addict swoon. Or, in my case, run around like an overly excited puppy, grabbing frantically at wool skirts, gray wiggle dresses, and never-been-worn vintage shoes (in pastel pink!), until mommy (Brian) has to put you to bed for a nap.

On our way home, we stopped in Bloomington, Indiana for a little rest and recuperation. And by “rest and recuperation”, I mean “more shopping”. We popped into The Pourhouse, a cozy cafe near the university full of college students and delish mocha options. I got a “Tuxedo Mocha”. I didn’t ask what was in it. I was just feeling fancy.

Then we sneaked into Cactus Flower, a slightly dusty and delightfully dark treasure trove of vintage and new fashions, plus some locally handmade wares. I handed over what was left of my paycheck in exchange for a bag o’ goodies, including one stunner of a statement ring! It’s a real seashell that was hand cut into a ring by someone in town. Lurv.

We may have shopped till we dropped, but don’t feel sorry for Brian. He made out with a vintage train belt buckle. And if you know Brian, you know how much he loves trains. And belt buckles. Happy as a clam, he was.
