A Westervin Wedding: To Typewrite or Not To Typewrite

{Royal Typewriter from Three Potato Four}

We figure it’s time for a wedding update! We’re focusing now on the save-the-date cards, but before we show you everything, we wanted to get your opinion. As for the cards themselves, I can say that we’re doing them DIY-style. Each one is completely handmade and totally unique. I love them so much, so I want the packaging to be just as perfect. Which brings us to our current roadblock: addressing the envelopes.

Now, I think it’s traditional to hire a professional calligrapher to hand write every single address. I also think that’s silly (for us, at least). I can’t bring myself to pay for that. However, neither Brian nor I have nice enough handwriting to do it ourselves. It would look like amateur hour, for realz. So our possible solution: a refurbished cursive typewriter!

We’re hesitant , though, because of the cost. We didn’t quite budget for a whole typewriter. Here’s where your opinion comes in. Should we shell out the dough for one? Or do you have other ideas for addressing the envelopes? If we get a typewriter, how else can we incorporate it into the festivities and/or planning (other than using it for the guestbook, which I feel is kinda tired).

Take the poll below and leave any suggestions in a comment!

  1. I love the typewriter idea! I got a cursive typewriter a month ago and toyed with idea of using it to address all 70 of our wedding invitations, but decided against it.

    I’m assuming that we will use the computer to print addresses. It seems like an easy, pretty way.

    Good luck! :)

  2. one thought I had for using the typewriter again in other ways for your wedding would be…it might be a fun to have it set up with pieces of paper so your guests can write (oops type) wedding wishes to both of you…just a thought! best of luck!
