Remember Cristiana Couceiro from this post? Well, I keep going back to her site for more, so I thought it only appropriate to show you some of my favorites in an “Artist I Heart” post. Because it’s true. I heart you Cristiana.
From the intimate, nostalgic images to the engaging colors, every piece seems thoughtful, every element purposeful. You can even see the care she takes in titling her work. By cropping the vintage images, she creates an intriguing story — it feels as if we’re peeking into an important moment. We’re left to wonder what she’s trying to tell us, as our eyes embrace each beautifully balanced composition.

Roseau is a french artist who creates images, sometimes on paper from tea bags, of dreams and other worlds. Like surreal fairytales (well, aren’t all fairtales surreal?), viewing one is like stepping into the middle of a story. You don’t know how it started or how it’s supposed to end, but you’re mesmerized by the fantasy that’s unfolding. I got happily lost weaving through her many drawings. If you’d like to have one of Roseau’s stories to have and hold, you can get a signed original from her Etsy shop!

While searching for a new wall calendar on Buy Olympia, I happened upon Chris Duncan‘s work. Although I still haven’t purchased a calendar (already five days into the new year, eeek!), at least I have a new artist to heart. Such colors and shapes and lines, oh my!

The lovely lady in the portrait keeps a hunk of sharp cheddar cheese on a chain around her neck as a motivational tool for Pearl. It’s an added benefit for Pearl, but she does it mostly because she’s such a sweetheart and needs to keep busy to calm her nerves.
Pearl also does Madame’s hair. She’s still trying to convince Madame to let her build a little nest up there.”
