I keep having the same recurring dream, night after night: fall is over, and winter’s clutches are upon us! So, I figured I need to wear my spiffy brown shoes before they’re outmatched by piles of snow and slush. Similarly, my vintage corduroy blazer is perfect for autumnal temps, but once my dreams become reality, I’ll need to find shelter in something heftier, if not indoors altogether.
I’ve been feeling unwell, so this will be brief. Don’t worry, though. It’s just allergies, and I have an appointment with an allergist today. I just wanted to share a couple recent snapshots of the Westervin clan. Well, day two of work left me a little frazzled without the previous administrative assistant to guide me. And it certainly didn’t help that I’m partially deaf in my left ear (thank you ear infections). But everyone else in the office has been so helpful and patient with me. And I was dressed to impress! Are you seeing this necklace from Tree & Kimball?! It’s my new best friend. It’s made of vintage lace, vintage glass beads and the pure sweetness of budding friendship (Lisa, who makes them, is my new pen pal!) I think it’s safe to say that Brian’s birthday party was a blast. We had more fun than we could shake a stick at! Even Elvis made a surprise appearance. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) our camera didn’t capture much of the action, unless you consider the attempts of our beloved bestie Sarah H. and myself at blowing as many noisemakers as possible at one time “action”. And I do. So glad we got roughly 80 shots of that.

Behold! My Bloganista outfit for week 3, complete with go-to scarf, new booties and a hearty disdain for Chicago winters. Now, I’m a southern girl with a circulation problem, so I’m no champ when it comes to bearing through the cold. If you ask me, Chicago has a wind that will blow right through you and steal your soul. And yet, just the other day, I saw a young woman walking by in a mini skirt and stilettos – no leggings, no tights, no nothin’. I wanted to slap her on the wrist and say, “GUUUUURRL! Get some clothes on! No one’s gonna care how sexy your legs look when you have FROSTBITE. Try balancing in those heels without any TOES!” Fortunately, I was able to restrain myself.
Fun with Photoshop! I’m really enjoying this Bloganista Flickr group. It gives me a reason to put some real clothes on every once in a while. That and having a lady-lunch with my gal-pal Lynne! Panera mac & cheese, you do me right.
The bubbly-cute Erin of Design for Mankind has started a pretty fun Flickr pool for blogging gals… like me! It’s meant to show that we “don more than sweatpants and slippers” everyday, but I’ll be honest with you, readers… I only got dressed up so I can join the pool! Ssshhhh.
