Boy, have I got something special for you, my little english muffins. Something specialer than a baby mouse singing Christmas carols. Katherine (aka Miss Pompadour) is giving away a stone and crochet necklace — the very stunning necklace you see above — but it’s not just ANY necklace. Katherine designed this unique piece specifically for Westervin! Now isn’t that somethin’? The three stones are Sodalite, which are said to bring inner peace and harmony and help with communication. Katherine also used a sparkly silver thread and included a silver lobster claw closure. With all these special touches, this necklace is a $60 value. Well, what are you waiting for? Enter away! Oh, you’re waiting for the interview aren’t you…

Sarah loves banners and sparkly lights. Sarah also thinks about our wedding a lot. Luckily for her, my mom snapped this picture at a Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. I think it’s pretty obvious that this is how we’ll have to decorate our reception.

Hey there, little glitter bugs. You ever get headaches from sinus pressure due to allergies due to your body seeming to think nature is a bad thing? I do. Too often. And I don’t really need another thing keeping me from my one true passion. Blogging. For you. My darling baby apple snaps.

Now here’s a dwelling I can appreciate. Bunting, crochet, teapots, and vintage portraits? That’s a recipe for sweetness… a home fit for happiness! Make room, Becka, cause I’m movin’ in! Not only does Becka’s Flickr photostream boast romantic images of her home, she’s got a lovely blog full of happy adventures AND a swoon worthy shop with embroidered clocks and wooden bookmarks, all under the moniker Bliss in a Teacup. How befitting.
Holy chenille, Batman! Did you know that February is National Embroidery Month? I didn’t either, but boy was I delighted when I heard the news. Now, I know I shouldn’t lump embroidery, sewing, crochet, knitting and weaving all into the same category — they’re distinct crafts, each with their own history and techniques — but… I want to. Because of the way they make me feel. When I sew or knit, or cuddle up in our old quilt, or run my fingers over the embroidered flowers on the pillowcases my grandmother made for us, I feel connected to a craft, an under-appreciated art form with a history that spans many centuries and many cultures. These crafts, however, are traditionally associated with one group of people — women. Through these skills, I feel pride and strength in the creative powers my sex.
