A while back, I was watching television, and someone mentioned that decanting wine (even cheap wine!) is one of the best ways to increase your wine-drinking pleasure. Now even if decanting didn’t improve your wine’s taste, it would still be really cool. The fact that it can really help mellow and balance your wine (especially more tannic reds) is just a bonus.
I love pouring a boring bottle of wine into a spectacular glass decanter and setting it up with it’s own cozy spot on our table. You should try it! I’ll bet you’ll love it, too. Be forewarned: you may find yourself decanting apple juice, milk, anything just to use all of your ever-growing decanter collection.
