handmade blog giveaway: moravian star mobile from theStarcraft

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away, there lived a little mobile of paper stars named Vela.  Vela was a bright and chipper mobile, and was very proud of her cascading, cotton-candy-colored stars.  She would often float happily through her neighborhood, giggling and saying hello to all the other star mobiles.  But one day, while bouncing along, she was passed by an interesting bit of space debris — a National Geographic magazine!  She quickly and joyously flipped through the July 2006 issue, devouring each page, every image of the land far, far away known as Earth, with irrepressible curiosity.  After flipping the last page, Vela’s usually sunny demeanor quickly faded.  She gazed at the empty galaxy around her, and wished desperately to explore the exotic planet Earth.  Without further hesitation, she resolved to pack up her bags and shoot off on her first grand adventure.  After arriving, the first welcoming face she saw belonged to Frances from theStarcraft, who quickly agreed to help Vela find a home.  If you would like to bring Vela home, leave a comment here letting Frances know.  {Psst.  This is a giveaway.  Leave a comment to enter…}

Sometimes the Shopping Sherpa just can’t help himself. Yesterday he found some great stuff for the walls of our man lodge, and today he’s back with some items for our desk and bar. Because what happens in a man lodge? Drinkin’ and Workin’.

On The Wall

When you’re trying to set up your own rustic man lodge, you’ll first need some pretty manly things for your walls. I’m thinking bones, and smoke, and lumberjacks (he’s my favorite).

The Shopping Sherpa: Weird, White & Wonderful

Collection of white crafts, vintage and art

I regret to inform you that posting might be a bit short for the next several days.  I’ve got personal business (or “bidness” as I like to say) to take care of.  That’s right, Mama’s got stuff to DO.  Oh!  You gettin’ nosy?  You wanna know what it is?  Well, you’ll just have to wait!  Until then, please enjoy this collection of delightful oddities (brought to you by the one, the only… the Shopping Sherpa) and the short posts I have scheduled through Tuesday.  Don’t miss me too much.

The Shopping Sherpa: I’m So Edgy!!!

JK.  I’m actually more like the opposite of edgy.  I’m a big proponent of hugs and baby animals… and hugging baby animals.  But that doesn’t mean I can’t look edgy right?

P.S. I realize that some of these items, a ceramic mug, for instance, may not appear “edgy” to some.  Just go with me on this.  It’s all about the color scheme here.  K?  Thanks.

Swell Dwelling: Kay Loves Vintage

Kay Loves Vintage is a lovely little blog I stumbled upon recently.  I especially love browsing through Kay’s flickr photostream, where I found these photos of her swank Dutch home.  Sweet and cozy looking, no?

The Shopping Sherpa: An Etsy Wedding

I’ve got weddings on the brain!  Between the Crate & Barrel Ultimate Wedding Contest we entered, my sweet baby Gracie’s upcoming nuptials and all the wedding season commercials/shows on tv, I can’t seem to escape it.  Like many a daydreaming schoolgirl, I’ve already started planning ours, even though we haven’t even set a date yet.  Below are some of the lovely, handmade things I’ve picked out from Etsy — a mix of sweet and quirky.  For those of you just joining us, Brian and I have entered the contest (mentioned above) to win $100,000 and the aid of a talented wedding planner to create our dream wedding.  We need a lot of votes to win, so if you haven’t already voted, please take a few seconds to do so!  Vote for us here.

EDIT: If you’ve voted for us, you can now enter our giveaway to win a stunning embroidered necklace from Marañón, a featured seller on Etsy.  Enter here.

I’m a big fan of these little lovelies.  My spunky friend Amy sent me some easy to follow directions for making teacup candles!  Should I share with you?  (Maybe later!)  And Brian’s sis Carlie bought me a teacup ring holder from Who Made It for my birthday.  I love love love it!
