Despite the fact that our car was hit on Saturday morning (we were just fine), we managed to make it out to Sycamore, IL (home of my parents, among other things) and visit Plank Road Orchard. I had been wanting to pick some apples and grab some apple cider (donuts) for a little while now. Unfortunately, U-Pick apple season was over, but they still had lots of bagged apples, fresh cider, and all the other apple-y things that you might expect to find at an orchard.

Oh hello there little Mexican bakery near our new apartment. How sweet of you {pun intended} to offer us some delicious pastries on our way home from work. Have you met two of our new houseplants, Cecil {after the great American filmmaker} and Zanzibar Jr. {he’s a Zanzibar Aloe}? You’re all making our lives so much more enjoyable.

Like a volatile lover, Chicago has turned cold again. But the freezing wind isn’t hampering my annual craving for peach sherbet. It’s just forcing me to eat said treat inside… while drooling over Etsy and its many candy-colored sweets.
